Learn How to Monitor Your Child’s Moods
It is no secret that the prevalence of anxiety and depression has risen in children over the past 10 years. Physicians are quicker to diagnose problems in children because of increased awareness, but we have a way to go to improve childrens’ mental health. Parents can be confused by a child’s mood swings and many feel helpless when it comes to figuring out whether a child has a mood disorder that requires medical attention or whether the child is simply experiencing age-related mood changes. Since parents know their children better than anyone – teachers, coaches or peers – it is extremely important that they be equipped with skills to determine normal moody behavior from pathology.
